Some glances of Durga Puja '11

Durga Puja is known to be the most attractive and biggest festival of the Bengali. There are so many stories in the ancient history related to how and why this festival started and when for the first time. For the non- Bengali readers I must mention that for most of the Bengali, this festival is the most cherished and awaited one. This starts with Mahalaya and ends with Bijoya Dashami. The body of the Goddess are made by clay and the structure under it is usually made of woods. Here are some snaps of different sculptures..

The trend here is, many small or big organisations are there who make big pandals for celebrating this festival. Some pandals show the ancient  sculpture, some tell us the ancient stories of different matters ans some show any events. Have a look :

A trumpeter made m=by Jute..

Soldiers made by Jute..

King on the back of an Elephant again made by Jute..

People make this just for four days of celebration.. These acute decorations become famous but we don't really appreciate enough the people who made this possible.

Potter made of clay..
Doesn't he look like a real man?? So Perfect and flawless..
Decoation..
This decoration is also so unique, made of hundreds of clay pots..

Chandelier..
Sooooooo gorgeous...

Last year I didn't take too much photos.. But this year I promise to take much more pics and definitely share with everyone....

Manosha puja @ our home

Manosha puja, a ritual's been continuing since my grandma was alive. She died 20 years ago and since then, mamma has been doing with utmost respect and sincerity. People from the whole locality come to our place to reach God, to pray to the Goddess, to feel the calm and pleasant atmosphere during the prayer. Here are some pictures I took that time..

Moong Moorg Fry..

I have been silence since long time. This month has been busy for me. It was hectic in the beginning, boring in the middle, memorable in the end. I always find an opportunity to cook something new. My hubby was here last week and I just love to cook for him. And my mind always gets some new ideas itself and mostly they are appreciated. I named this preparation as "Moong Moorg Fry". It's kind of snacks, can be served in the evening with coffee, or it can be served with any main coarse item. I leave it up to you how you wanna have it. Now here's the recipe:

Ingredients:

1] Chicken-cut into small pieces (500 gm)
2] 3 eggs
3] Moong Dal (75 gm)
4] Arrowroot (150 gm)
5] Salt (According to taste)
6] Black Pepper (1/2 tsp)
7] Sugar (1 tbsp)
8] Chaat Masala (1+1/2 tsp)
9] Green chili paste (According to taste, I used 2tsp)
10] Refined Oil (to fry)
11] Vinegar

Method:

1] Marinate the Chicken with Vinegar and salt for 15 mins.
2] Wash the Moong Dal with water and dip in water for just 5 mins. Then grind it half in the mixer. The grains should not become full paste.
3] Make a batter with the eggs, half grinded Moong Dal, Arrowroot, Salt, Black Pepper, Sugar, Chaat masala, Green Chili Paste. The batter should be beaten well so that no clot of arrowroot is there.
4] Take the chickens out of the vinegar and let them dry.
5] Heat the oil, dip the chickens in the batter and fry.
6] Serve with sauce or simply with black pepper and salt.

Now,isn't it easy?? Try at home and lemme know how it tastes. My hubby loved it. :) :) :)

Sweet 'n' Sour Prawn Piyaaji >> was my recipe on mamma's birthday

I will share the recipe of || Sweet 'n' Sour Prawn Piyaaji || and the name is given by me indicating the taste and majority of onions. Everyone loved it except the fact that I used a bit much chilly powder :( :( :( and even I felt the same. I was actually in a hurry and gave chilly powder twice. :P :P :P... I won't chappar chappar too much and going straight to the recipe.

Ingredients needed (For 5 serving):

1) Prawn: 600gm (fully deshelled and marinated with salt for 15 mins)
2) Onions: 2 big sized (chopped)
3) Garlic: 1 tsp (finely chopped or paste) >> I used finely chopped ones
4) Ginger: 1 tbsp (paste)
5) Sugar: 2 tbsp
6) Red chilly powder: 1 tsp
7) Green chilly paste: 1+1/2 tsp
8) Garam masala powder: 1/2 tsp
9) Butter: 1 tbsp
10) Mustard oil: 4 tbsp
11) Tamarind pulp: 1 cup
12) salt: according to taste

Method:

1) Heat the oil, and stir fry the prawns (don't let them become brownish, only a pink tint will be there) and keep them aside.
2) Add the onions into the oil and fry for 1 minute.
3) Add the chopped garlic and sugar; fry until the onions become brown.
4) Add fried prawns, ginger paste, red chilly powder, green chilly paste, salt and fry well for 2-3 mins until the oil comes out of the spices(well fried).
5) Add the tamarind pulp and 1 cup water.
6) When the water starts boiling, add garam masala powder.

7) Cook for 5 mins in medium heat.
8) Keep it in a bowl and add butter( if you want to use small butter cubes, spread them and let them melt in the heat itself).

And you Sweet 'n' Sour Prawn Piyaaji is ready to serve.........

Recently taken snaps..

Sharing some of my recently taken snaps...........

I was taking snaps of clouds, and a mild storm was going on, puchku was a bit scared. She was sitting quietly on the bench wandering how crazy I am perhaps.. :P

Doesn't this resemble eyes??? I love taking pictures of clouds.. And among all I took that day, this one is the best according to me...

This was taken in a morning after a sleepless night. I was awake till 6.30am that day, took pictures, spent time with myself. This old lady resides in a hut beside our house taking care of his master's land.

My first tattoo..

One day I was playing with a black marker pen and was making signatures of different shapes on a piece of paper. My brother was lying on bed beside me with his bare back up.I asked him : "Do you wanna tattoo on your back? I think I am not too bad at that..". Surprisingly he allowed me. And I made one and obviously took a snap. And here it is............

I thought mamma and bapi won't like. But they did,and I was surprised and happy too.. And you know what my bro even paid for the Tattoo, with loads and loads of compliments. I love him so much (except sometimes when he sits lazily and I have to too much work :P :P and even then he doesn't notice it.).

Chimney installed in our newly decorated kitchen

My mom is soooooooooooo happy.. After so many days, ultimately her fascination about her kitchen was accomplished. We bought the chimney back in last December but there was no point of installing it before painting the kitchen and do some other decorations. So,we waited until the right time came. Now, we have it installed and mamma is happy with it and she made an awesome chicken preparation today. And mamma was cooking chapattis for the dinner last night with only the chimney lights on in the kitchen, I just loved the way it looked, I loved the playing of the lights and darkness. And, as usually I don't miss any opportunity of capturing whatever I like, so didn't I even yesterday. So here's the picture I took-

Mamma is a person who doesn't express a lot about how she feels but I can read it from her eyes... And I saw she was happy... So, we all are happy..

I always dream big. Is it good??

May be like many people as well as unlike many people on this earth, I have some dreams which I never thought to follow, just because I have some responsibility towards my family, may be because I didn't have that confidence to tell my parents to have faith in me,I could do it, may be because those paths are full of hurdles until we achieve goal and I was afraid, but now I think I was actually a coward that I even didn't tell my parents about my dreams.
Now, a person, new to my life, got to know about those dreams as he himself asked about those. And he was so great to make me understand that I could, he made me feel I already achieved the topper's crown.

In our dreams we think only about achievements if you imagine you would understand. But when we come to the real world, that same path slaps and kicks hard.
But in the dream, we are wearing the crown, thousands of people are clapping to congratulate us, our parents are proud of us and everything seems beautiful around. But as I said, I am lucky enough to have the support to chase my dreams now. And I am already a step ahead, as I know my dreams well,I know my goal, I know the time I have. I never wanted to be an engineer. One of the reasons is: It's nothing different to be an engineer. But I opted for it because I knew it would make me self dependent faster than any other professions.
Anyway, I am happy because I had to do a graduation and I think engineering is a smart choice. So, now just dreaming big, without even a little amount of fear in my heart... :) :)
